LogMeIn Express (beta) – Online Collaboration Tool

LogMeIn Express is a simple screen-view screen-share web application that is FREE, small (901kb), and works GREAT for collaboration and PC repair If you are sharing your desktop you are the “presenter”. Likewise, if you have been invited to view someone else’s desktop you are the “Viewer”.
Setting up LogMeIn Express is very simple. Go to LogMeIn Express login page HERE and click “Share”. You will be directed to download a small 901Kb file. LogMeIn will generate a 9 digit custom code, specific to this session, and you will get the following screen. In this example, the custom code is 865 199 210. You are prompted to enter your name.

Now you are ready to share. All viewers need is the 9 digit number. LogMeIn Express gives you the ability to “copy to clipboard” and “email the code” to a recipient.

Viewers will go to the same site above and click on viewer. The beautiful thing is that no software is required to be a viewer…it just opens up in the viewer’s browser. They are then prompted to enter their name.

As the presenter, you have the ability to “share remote control”…“send a file”…and “remove a user”:

LogMeIn Express also has a simple chat client that allows you to chat with all viewers or individual users.

Overall, I give LogMeIn Express (Beta) 2 big thumbs up…for ease of use, speed, and security. It, by no means is a robust screen-share application. But it was not designed to compete in that marketplace.

Another FREE screen-share application for collaboration with more bells-and-whistles worth mentioning is Vyew.
